While walking with my love along the Seine in March, it hit me how liberated I felt being away from the incessant bad news back home. There was no DOGE, no Musk, no MAGA, no Trump and it was wonderful. I felt free and happy. I felt Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité and it was good.
Over 400 years ago my ancestors left Paris to start a new life in Quebec. They sought freedom and opportunity. Ironic that four centuries later, I traveled to Paris seeking freedom.
