This song was composed after reading an article about Maria Kolesnikova, the Belarus freedom fighter. The Belarus dictator Alexander Lukashenko sentenced Maria to 11-years in prison for speaking out against his criminal regime and for supporting democracy in Belarus. Maria is one of many women and men risking their lives for freedom. They all deserve our support. Maria's story really impacted me because she is a flutist and was willing to risk her life and music career to speak out for freedom and democracy. She is remarkably brave. My love and support to Maria. We want to dance with you free in the streets.
