In February 2020 good friends told me they would be moving back home to New Brunswick. I felt empty and dark when they told me. We have collaborated on a number songs. More recently my friends came over for dinner. While waiting for them to arrive, I picked up my acoustic and wrote this song.
Part of the backstory to this song is that a number of people have moved to Reno from New Brunswick. My friends are among them.
