Around my second birthday, my father abandoned his family and home in New England and traveled to Reno to get a speedy divorce from my mother. This has been a source of deep personal sadness and frustration for me. I don't understand how he could abandon his 19-year old wife, and two-year old and seven-month old sons. Why did he go to Reno? Funny thing is, after traveling the world, the Reno area ended up being my home.
